These are for that soft spot inside all of us.

I've been saving sentimental messages sent to me in e-mail intending to pass them around, but haven't done it. So, I decided to list them here.

Maybe I'll get around someday to categorizing them, but for now, they're in no particular order. Some will make you smile, but right now, go get a box of tissues just in case!
You may need them.

Cntrl+Alt+Delete

Don't you wish when life is bad
and things just don't compute,
That all we really had to do
was stop and hit reboot?

Things would all turn out ok,
life could be so sweet.
If we had those special keys,
Ctrl, Alt, and Delete.

Your boss is mad, your bills not paid,
your wife, well she's just mute.
Just stop and hit those wonderful keys,
that make it all reboot.

You'd like to have another job,
but you fear living in the street?
You solve it all and start anew,
Ctrl, Alt, and Delete.

THINK OF THOSE WHO LOVE YOU
  @~~>~~~* HUGS * ~~~<~~@

    There's something in a simple hug That always warms the heart;
It welcomes us back home And makes it easier to part.

A hug's a way to share the joy And sad times we go through,
Or just a way for friends to say They like you 'cause you're you.

Hugs are meant for anyone For whom we really care,
From your grandma to your neighbour, Or a cuddly teddy bear.

A hug is an amazing thing - It's just the perfect way
To show the love we're feeling But can't find the words to say.

    It's funny how a little hug Makes everyone feel good;
In every place and language, It's always understood.

And hugs don't need new equipment, Special batteries or parts -
Just open up your arms And open up your hearts.

  TODAY, TOMORROW, YESTERDAY

There are two days in every week
that we should not worry about,

two days that should be kept free,
          from fear and apprehension.

         One is Yesterday
          with its mistakes and cares,
          its faults and blunders,
          its aches and pains.

          Yesterday has passed forever
          beyond our control.

All the money in the world
          cannot bring back yesterday.
We cannot undo a certain act
or take back a word we've said-

          Yesterday is gone.

          The other day we shouldn't
          worry about is Tomorrow-
          with its impossible adversaries,
          its burdens, its hopeful promise,
          and poor performance.

          Tomorrow's sun
          with either rise in splendor
or behind a mask of clouds,
          but it will rise
          and until it does,
we have no stake in tomorrow,
          for it is yet unknown.
          This leaves only one day-

          Today.

Any person can fight the battle
          for just one day.
It is only when we add
          the burdens of yesterday
and tomorrow that we break down.

          The sadness comes not from
          the experience of today
          but the remorse of bitterness
          for something which happened
          yesterday
          and the dread of what
          tomorrow may bring.

You just awake... your eyes are still shut
Still cant quite focus.....still draggin your butt
You know you need coffee......can taste that first sip
You wait for the maker.....and put the mug to your lip

The feeling is warm.... just what you need
But you know you need more....and its something to read
The paper you say??? no...dont think so.. not it...
Its much more exciting... you cant wait to "click"...

You boot up your puter.......you click that icon...
Can't keep from grinning.... your really turned on!
When the voice says "Welcome"...your heart skips a beat!!
You know your addicted....all the friends that you'll meet.

And then you see it.......you wait with a stare....
The mail box lights up!! "you've got mail" waiting there!!
OH.. what a feeling!!.... you look with delight!
You hoped you'd have mail.... and you knew you were right!!
>
So you go thru the mail..... knowing this is the "Best"..
Reading this reading that....as you go thru the rest.
Some you give the "delete" key....others get your first click
You know you must hurry......you gotta be quick!

It is then that you hear it.... You cant wait to see
Your heart gets a flutter... who's name will it be?
And then there it is..... covering part of the screen
The sweet little sound....Oh..you know what that means!!!

"Quick mail check" you promised....you said in your mind.
But you just got an IM.... and your pressing for time!
You know that you want to.... and respond  you will
So you stop what your doing.. and go for the thrill!

You "LOL" and "BRB",  give kisses and Hugs...
You type and send words... refilling your mug
You give your good friend your attention and time
So that quick little mail check... turns to hours online!

-somebody is sending healing energy to you

You don't have to send this to all of your friends. Those to whom you do
send it, however, I believe would appreciate it.

Add to it as you pass it along for the little or big things in life you
want your friends to have and to know.

Sometimes, in the hustle and bustle of life, we neglect our friends, and
these little things that friendships entail.  These things are precious, as
are our friends.  They are forever.

The memories that we create with our friends can not be duplicated, nor
can they be replaced.    They are once-in-a-lifetime  experiences.  As are our friends.
There will never be someone exactly like a  friend who may be slipping away from us.
We must hold onto them and love them or we must let them seek their own destiny
and welcome them back after they have found the one thing that they are desperately
    searching for.

We cannot just sit by and watch their lives pass, we must take an active
role to express our love for them and protect them from the dangers lurking
    just around the corner.

Hold onto your friends and tell them you love them.
They may not know or they may easily forget.
Love your friends and remind them frequently of this.
They will find comfort in their knowledge when life deals them things
that they feel they cannot handle on their own.  Live your love.

Maybe it's true that life begins at fifty. But everything else starts to wear out, fall out, or spread out.

There are three signs of old age. The first is your loss of memory, the other two I forget.

  @->->>    @->->>    @->->>    @->->>    @->->>

You're getting old when... you don't care where your spouse goes, just as long as you don't have to go along.

Middle age is when work is a lot less fun - and fun a lot more work.

Statistics show that at the age of seventy, there are five women to every man. ***Isn't that the darndest time for a guy to get those odds?

  @->->>    @->->>    @->->>    @->->>    @->->>

You know you're getting on in years when the girls at the office start confiding in you.

  @->->>    @->->>    @->->>    @->->>    @->->>

Middle age is when it takes longer to rest than to get tired.

  @->->>    @->->>    @->->>    @->->>    @->->>

By the time a man is wise enough to watch his step, he's too old to go anywhere.

  @->->>    @->->>    @->->>    @->->>    @->->>

Middle age is when you have stopped growing at both ends, and have begun to grow in the middle.

Of course I'm against sin; I'm against anything that I'm too old to enjoy.

The Test

John Blanchard stood up from the bench, straightened his Army uniform, and studied the crowd of people making their way through Grand Central Station.  He looked for the girl whose heart he knew, but whose face he didn't, the girl with the rose. his interest in her had begun thirteen months before in a Florida library. Taking a book off the shelf he found himself intrigued, not with the words of the book, but with the notes penciled in the margin. The soft handwriting reflected a thoughtful soul and insightful mind. In the front of the book, he discovered the previous owner's name, Miss Hollis Maynell.

With time and effort he located her address.  She lived in New York City.  He wrote her a letter introducing himself and inviting her to correspond. The next day he was shipped overseas for service in World War II.

During the next year and one month the two grew to know each other through the mail.  Each letter was a seed falling on a fertile heart. A romance was budding. Blanchard requested a photograph, but she refused.
She felt that if he really cared, it wouldn't matter what she looked like.

When the day finally came for him to return from Europe, they scheduled their first meeting - 7:00 PM at the Grand Central Station in New York. "You'll recognize me," she wrote, "by the red rose I'll be wearing on my lapel."  So at 7:00 he was in the station looking for a girl whose heart he loved, but whose face he'd never seen.

I'll let Mr. Blanchard tell you what happened:

A young woman was coming toward me, her figure long and slim.  Her blonde hair lay back in curls from her delicate ears; her eyes were blue as flowers. Her lips and chin had a gentle firmness, and in her pale green suit she was like springtime come alive.  I started toward her, entirely forgetting to notice that she was not wearing a rose.  As I moved, a small, provocative smile curved her lips.  "Going my way, sailor?" she murmured. Almost uncontrollably I made one step closer to her, and then I saw Hollis Maynell.  She was standing almost directly behind the girl.  A woman well past 40, she had graying hair tucked under a worn hat.  She was more than plump, her thick-ankled feet thrust into low-heeled shoes.  The girl in the green suit was walking quickly away. I felt as though I was split in two, so keen was my desire to follow her, and yet so deep was my longing for the woman whose spirit had truly companioned me and upheld my own. And there she stood. Her pale, plump face was gentle and sensible, her gray eyes had a warm and kindly twinkle. I did not hesitate. My fingers gripped the small worn blue leather copy of the book that was to identify me to her. This would not be love, but it would be something precious, something perhaps even better than love, a friendship for which I had been and must ever be grateful. I squared my shoulders and saluted and held out the book to the woman, even though while I spoke I felt choked by the bitterness of my disappointment.

"I'm Lieutenant John Blanchard, and you must be Miss Maynell.  I am so glad you could meet me; may I take you to dinner?"

The woman's face broadened into a tolerant smile. "I don't know what this is about, son," she answered, "but the young lady in the green suit who just went by, she begged me to wear this rose on my coat. And she said if you were to ask me out to dinner, I should go and tell you that she is waiting for you in the big restaurant across the street. She said it was some kind of test!

A few things for all of us to remember for true happiness

Laughter is the best medicine for a long and happy life.
He who laughs............lasts.

Forgiveness is our greatest achievement and our highest calling.

A friend is a person who knows all about you... and still likes you.

If you can't have the best of everything,
make the best of everything you have.

We are as healthy as our relationships.

Touch is a great therapy.

God help the man who won't marry until he finds the perfect woman,
and God help him still more if he finds her.

Don't marry someone you can live with.
Marry someone you cannot live without.

Life is too precious and marriage is too sweet to rush into
relationships that are less than best for you.

The most important things in life aren't things.

The trouble with most people is that they stop trying in trying times.

Don't let your children become more important than your partner.

A husband is a man who stands by you through all the problems you wouldn't
have had, had you stayed single.

If you're happy, let your face know it and show it!

Live your life and forget about your age!

Everyone has a future....... some people plan theirs.

We can't change anybody but ourselves.

One of our greatest strengths is to admit our weaknesses.

Obstacles are what you see if you take your eyes off the goal.

Drinking From My Saucer
Author Unknown

I've never made a fortune, and it's probably too late now,
But, I don't worry about that much, I'm happy anyhow.
And as I go along life's journey, I'm reaping better than I sowed,
I'm drinking from my saucer, 'cause my cup has overflowed.

«:*´`3¤3´`*:»

I ain't got a lot of riches, and sometimes the goings tough;
But, I've kids who love me and that makes me rich enough.
I just thank God for His blessings and the mercies He's bestowed;
I'm drinking from my saucer, 'cause my cup has overflowed.

«:*´`3¤3´`*:»

I remember times when things went wrong
and my faith got a little thin,
But then all at once the dark clouds broke
and the sun peaked through again.

«:*´`3¤3´`*:»

So Lord help me not to gripe about the tough rows that I hoed,
I'm drinking from my saucer, 'cause my cup has overflowed.

«:*´`3¤3´`*:»

And if God gives me strength and courage
when the way grows steep and rough,
I'll not ask for other blessings, I'm already blessed enough.
And may I never be too busy to help another bear his load,
Then I'll keep drinking from my saucer,
'cause my cup has overflowed.

The Rules of Combat
Unknown

If the enemy is in range, so are you.

Incoming fire has the right of way.

Don't look conspicuous: it draws fire.

The easy way is always mined.

Try to look unimportant, they may be low on ammo.

Professionals are predictable, it's the amateurs that are dangerous.

The enemy invariably attacks on one of two occasions:
    When you're ready for them.
When you're not ready for them.

Teamwork is essential; it gives the enemy someone else to shoot at.

If you can't remember, the claymore is pointed at you.

If your attack is going well, you have walked into an ambush.

Don't draw fire, it irritates the people around you.

The only thing more accurate than incoming enemy fire is incoming friendly
fire.

When the pin is pulled, Mr. Grenade is not our friend.

If it's stupid but works, it isn't stupid.

When in doubt empty the magazine.

Never share a fox hole with anyone braver than you.

Anything you do can get you shot. Including doing nothing.

Make it too tough for the enemy to get in and you can't get out.

Mines are equal opportunity weapons.

A Purple Heart just proves that were you smart enough to think of a plan,
stupid enough to try it, and lucky enough to survive.

Don't ever be the first, don't ever be the last and don't ever volunteer to do
anything.

The quartermaster has only two sizes: too large and too small.

Five second fuses only last three seconds.

It is generally inadvisable to eject directly over the area you just bombed.

UNSEEN FRIEND

Although you are a friend of mine and letters we exchange,
I would not know you on the street and doesn't that seem strange?
You hold a place within my life unusual and unique;
We share ideals and special dreams and still we do not speak
I picture what I think you are, perhaps you picture me.
An intriguing game for both of us for someone we can’t see.
So for this friendship we possess we owe this mail a debt
Perhaps the charm lies in the fact that we have never met.
